Before the First Class
1. Best piece of creative work: Organising the Year 12 Concert's 'Game Of Thrones Orchestra'

When thinking about my best creative piece, I thought of using something that I had drawn last year in BENV1080 or ARCH1121, but I thought that those projects would not be something that I would consider as my 'best work'.
So I had to think back further, back to high school.
Towards the end of 2013, whilst everyone had begun planning for the Year 12 concert, I had an idea. "What if our year group performed the Game of Thrones Intro?" (Game of Thrones was in its 3rd season, and was quickly gaining popularity within the school). And I ran with this idea; talking to a few students here and there; organising a few meetings between students and teachers; spending lunches and afternoons with 20 other students; and all of a sudden we were performing in front of the entire school with me as the 'manager'.
It may not have gone perfectly, but it is something that I would consider as my best piece of creative work.
2. A great piece of architecture: One Central Park by Jean Nouvel
This was the first building that came to mind when thinking of a 'great piece of architecture' as it is a building which I see every day on my commute to and from uni.
The building showcases nature in an urban environment with the hanging vertical gardens on the façades. Additionally, the cantilever and heliostat ingeniously directs natural light down into the parklands and pool between the east and west towers, which would otherwise be dark. At night, the heliostat becomes a giant LED art installation for residents and civilians to enjoy.
It's not hard to see why One Central Park was recognised as the world's 5th best skyscraper in 2013.
3. An original photograph of something beautiful: View from Bà Nà Hills theme park in Vietnam.
I travelled to Vietnam with my family in 2012. On our trip we travelled to Bà Nà Hills, a theme park situated on the top of a mountain range, which can only be accessed by cable car.
When I think of something beautiful, I think of this place and this moment in time.
On our second day at the theme park, we got up early morning to wander around, but could not see very far due to fog. The sun, a light hue of pink and orange, began to rise behind the clouds in the distance, and we then realised that we were surrounded by a sea of white clouds filling the empty spaces between the mountains.
